Job Overview

Join the Enterprise Analytics Office (EAO) at Nationwide Insurance as an Analytic Engineer Intern! In this role, you will work closely with Data Scientists to transform AI/ML models into integrated solutions, contributing to the company's success. Your responsibilities will include designing, developing, and deploying automated solutions to deliver consumable data products and actionable insights to business partners. This is a May to August 2024 internship opportunity.

Compensation

$21 - $35 per hour (geographic-specific salary structure and placement within the actual starting salary range will be determined based on skills, education, training, credentials, experience, scope, complexity, location of the role, cost of labor in the market, and other conditions of employment)

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate, coordinate, and communicate across teams
  • Implement solutions with complex business requirements and systems integrations
  • Analyze and resolve moderately complex issues related to application support and logging
  • Write and debug SQL queries
  • Program using multiple programming/scripting languages (Python, R, Java, Shell)
  • Apply knowledge of common Linux/Unix commands and functions
  • Prepare detailed specifications, requirements, scope documents, and logic flowcharts for the development and implementation of complex application programs and modifications
  • Conduct application testing to ensure the provided solution is executable, testable, complete, and meets all end-user requirements
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the data science development lifecycle

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Web Development, or related fields
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Programming with multiple programming/scripting languages (Python, R, Java, Shell)
    • Writing and debugging SQL queries
    • Knowledge of common Linux/Unix commands and functions
    • Being an accomplished self-learner, demonstrating an awareness of technology trends and ability to learn and teach with limited formal training
    • Analyzing and resolving moderately complex issues related to application support and logging
    • Implementing solutions with complex business requirements and systems integrations
    • Collaborating, coordinating, and communicating across teams
    • Preparing detailed specifications, requirements, scope documents, and logic flowcharts for the development and implementation of complex application programs and modifications
    • Conducting application testing to ensure the provided solution is executable, testable, complete, and meets all end-user requirements
    • Understanding of the data science development lifecycle

  • Version Control (GitHub)
  • Infrastructure solutions (Docker, AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, Artifactory)
  • ETL development tools or libraries (PySpark, Informatica, Talend)
  • AWS Sagemaker, S3, and Cloudwatch
  • DevOps or MLOps
  • Test Automation Technologies (PyTest, Selenium, jUnit, etc.)
  • API Technology (Apigee, OAS "Swagger", REST/JSON/SOAP, Splunk, J2EE, Javascript)
