Job Description

Reviews prescriptions issued by Physician, or other authorized prescriber to assure accuracy and determine formulas and ingredients needed. Compounds medications, using standard formulas and processes such as weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients. Directs pharmacy workers engaged in mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals. Answers questions and provides information to pharmacy customers on drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage or pharmaceuticals. Maintains established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs. Enters data such as patient name, prescribed medication and cost, to maintain pharmacy files, charge system, and inventory. Assays medications to determine identity, purity, and strength. Instructs interns and other medical personnel on matters pertaining to pharmacy. 8+ years of experience.

1. What hours and days will this person be working?
a. Hours:
i. Must be available for varying shifts from 7am to 7pm
ii. Preference is availability from 10:30 am – 7:00 pm

b. Days: Monday through Friday

b. Required Skill 2: Professional verbal and written communication skills; must be comfortable and courteous in interacting with patients and health care providers to provide drug information, advice, and counseling

3. What years of experience, education, and/or certification is required?
a. Bachelor’s or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited college of pharmacy
b. Active Illinois RPh licensure in good standing
c. 2-3 years of experience as a Registered Pharmacist

4. What is a nice to have (but not required) regarding skills, requirements, experience, education, or certification?
a. Experience with specialty, infusion, or hospital pharmacy
b. Experience in a fast-paced/high volume pharmacy and/or mail order pharmacy
c. Knowledge of and experience working with injectable medications, infusion products, ambulatory pump utilization and functionality, and administration supplies
d. Experience with ScriptMed, Avaya, Salesforce, and Microsoft Office
e. Licensure as a Registered Pharmacist in other states

5. What is the environment that this person will be working in (i.e. group setting vs individual role)?
a. This person would be expected to work both independently and collaboratively to ensure all work is completed daily

6. Is any testing required for this role?
a. A certification exam on the roles/responsibilities must be passed to continue post-training; training will be provided
7. Does this position offer the ability to work remotely on a regular basis or is it an on-site role? If remote opportunity exists, what are the options (i.e. 1 day remote, 4 days on-site)?
a. No remote work; all work must be done on-site

a. Responsibilities may require continuous sitting/standing for prolonged periods (2 hours) and keyboard use for 50% of the work day
