Job Description

 Job summary:

 Under the direction of Corporate Technical Managers, Talent Development Engineer will complete various hands on training projects, simulations and other experiential learning opportunities. This will be a rotational program starting in Knoxville, Tennessee and rotating through various project plant assignments at different operations including Cement Operations, Aggregates, Ready Mix, Houston Regional Dispatch Office.

Each participant will complete 9 months weeks of technical classroom training, training will follow the Cement Masters subject matter and will be supplemented by real time exposure within the Knoxville plant. After the nine month training program you will be assigned to one of the nine cement plant operations in the United states for one year. Plants are located in CA, CO, TX, FL, KY, AL, TN, GA.   

Rotational assignments will include traveling to different facilities across the United States for to accomplish Talent Tower I – Technical Development, Talent Tower II Experiential Learning and Talent Tower III- Field Continuous Improvement Project


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering preferred
  • Prior experience in an industrial setting a PLUS.


  • Knowledge of plant processes, systems and equipment

  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of appropriate business and technical software

  • Budgeting and financial planning skills

  • Above average ability to think and reason, solve problems, and position accuracy

  • Above average reading skills and comprehension, grammar, math skills

  • Above average interpersonal skills

  • Above average managerial skills, organizational skills, oral and written communication skills

  • Average data and word processing speed and accuracy, and spatial relation skills


  • Frequently sitting, walking, standing, reaching

  • Occasional stooping, kneeling, lifting

  • Dusty and noisy environment around large manufacturing machinery

  • All weather elements from extreme cold to extreme heat

  • Mechanical and electrical hazards

  • Ability to access all work areas in the plant and travel periodically.

  • Ability to work at heights greater than three stories
