Always be on the alert for potentially fraudulent job postings online - never send money to a potential employer.
DescriptionAlthough it was formally incorporated by the State of Ohio on September 29, 2014, it is a successor organization. The programs and services currently offered by From Me 2 U, were formerly offered by V.O.I.C.E. Consulting, a for profit business entity.
From Me 2 U focuses on positive youth development. Youth are encouraged and challenged to explore and identify their talents as well as personal challenges that may prevent them from excelling. Youth have an opportunity to enroll in several programs, each designed to support and build self-awareness, leadership, and stewardship.
We also believe that to provide adequate support to our youth, we must also support youth development professionals and families.
Consumers enrolled in the youth development and prevention services are referred from various community organizations (PEP, Tapestry, Schools), families, or self-referrals. The youth and families we serve typically have a history of generational poverty, coupled with poor academic success, poor health, or behavioral health concerns. Parents often feel self-conscious and intimidated by school personnel, which affects their involvement in their child’s academic career. Youth are often left unsupervised with little parental guidance or exhibit a great deal of behavioral health challenges for the family, and parents tend to be young single mothers. Many of the youth participants tend to have little to no connection with their fathers and those that do often experience a very strained relationship. The lack of adequate parental supervision often leads to the youth’s engagement in risky behaviors and activities: engaging in unsafe, unprotected sexual activities, criminal trespassing, theft, delinquency, and truancy. In the past, consumers have attended public, private, and charter schools; some were also homeschooled. Encounters with homeschooled youth occurs through their involvement with community youth programs. The neighborhoods, in which the families reside, tend to vary in the level of activities and resources available to youth (Tapestry Family Support Group Session, August 2013).
As V.O.I.C.E. Consulting, the program has also worked with community-based youth development organizations (Warrensville Heights YMCA, Golden and Ciphers) that serve you, providing alternative services in the form of leadership trainings and will continue to do so as From Me 2 U, Inc.
V.O.I.C.E. Consulting has served as an internship site for Cleveland State University graduate and undergraduate Social Work Students. Psychology, Sociology, Education, and Anthropology majors welcome. From Me 2 U, Inc. will continue this tradition.
