Rivich Auction is Chicago and Southwest Michigan's Premier Auction House, specializing in fine art, antiques, jewelry, mid-century modern design, collectibles, and estate collections. Every day brings something different- from rare historical pieces to iconic furniture and one-of-a-kind memorabilia. We're looking for someone who enjoys variety, is highly organized, and takes pride in attention to detail.
Position Overview
The Cataloguing Assistant plays an important role in preparing auction inventory for sale. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys research, organization, and working with unique objects. While cataloging is the primary focus, we're looking for a team player who is happy to jump in wherever needed in our fast-paced auction environment.
Responsibilities
- Process incoming consignments and assist with intake
- Research items and prepare accurate catalog descriptions
- Enter catalog information into our auction software
- Photograph auction items as needed
- Organize inventory and maintain accurate records
- Assist with answering phones and responding to customer emails
- Provide friendly customer service to consignors and bidders
- Help move, stage, and organize furniture and other auction inventory
- Assist with auction preview setup, including numbering lots, arranging displays, and preparing the gallery
- Perform other day-to-day tasks as needed to support the auction team
Qualifications
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
- Comfortable with computers and data entry
- Ability to research and learn about a wide variety of antiques, collectibles, art, and household items
- Previous customer service experience preferred
- Photography experience is a plus, but not required
- Ability to lift and move furniture and other auction items (up to 50 lbs. with assistance when needed)
- Positive attitude, dependable work ethic, and willingness to adapt to changing priorities
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
