Pro Seniors, Inc., founded in 1975, is a non-profit organization that provides free assistance to older Ohioans with legal and long-term care issues and works to prevent Medicare fraud. The organization's Long-Term Care Ombudsman team advocates for residents in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, adult care facilities, and home- and community-based services across Southwest Ohio. Pro Seniors' Ohio Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) team, made up of staff and volunteers, focuses on fraud prevention through education and outreach. Through its statewide Legal Helpline, Pro Seniors helps Ohio residents age 60 or older resolve a variety of legal and long-term care problems over the phone, supporting older adults in maintaining their independence and accessing needed resources.

Role Description

The Development Communications Intern is a part-time, on-site role based in Cincinnati, OH. This intern will support fundraising and outreach efforts by drafting donor communications, including emails, letters, social media posts, and website content that highlight Pro Seniors' impact. Day-to-day responsibilities may include assisting with the creation of newsletters and marketing materials, helping prepare content for events and campaigns, updating contact lists and databases, and gathering stories from staff and volunteers to use in communications. The intern will collaborate with development and program staff to ensure consistent messaging, track communication efforts, and provide basic administrative support related to donor relations and outreach.

Qualifications

  • Strong Analytical Skills to interpret data, track campaign performance, and support reporting.
  • Effective Communication abilities, including clear writing, editing, and interpersonal skills for donor and community outreach.
  • Basic Software Development and Programming familiarity is beneficial for updating web content or assisting with digital tools.
  • Foundational Sales or fundraising-related skills to support donor engagement and stewardship activities.
  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a program in Communications, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, Public Relations, or a related field preferred.
  • Proficiency with common office and communication tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, email marketing platforms, social media channels).
  • Strong organization and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Interest in social justice, aging, health care, or legal services, and a commitment to serving older adults in a respectful, inclusive manner.
