We fund and create educational and artistic programs that nurture personal growth, promote community healing, and incite social change through art.

Summary of Position

The Communications Intern supports the Communication and Events Manager and the Communications Associate on creating and executing the social media strategy for all nonprofit programs and projects. This role requires strong interest in content creation and desire to learn more about digital marketing in the art/nonprofit space.

Part-time, unpaid, for school credits 10-20 hours per week, flexible hours Start date: Tuesday, September 8th

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Social Media Duties

  • Create content for all communications platforms including reels, carousel posts, and stories
  • Write compelling captions and copy for all digital assets
  • Interact with the @canartchangetheworld and @insideoutproject communities by responding to direct messages and comments on social media
  • Contribute to digital marketing strategy, ideation and scheduling
  • Research the nonprofit digital marketing landscape to inform strategy and stay current on cultural trends

Other Communications & Events Duties

  • Support with creative strategy on all communications
  • Copy write and copy edits as needed
  • Support with event-planning as needed
  • Archive assets for communications for all projects

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Proficient video editing skills specifically using CapCut or Canva
  • Strong eye for visual systems and graphic design
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • General curiosity and desire to learn about digital marketing in the nonprofit/art space
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with Notion, a plus
  • Fluency in French, a plus

Education and Experience

  • No work/and or lived experience in a related field required
  • Highschool degree required

Other Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of walking, sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
  • Must be able to work on-site in New York City
