Digital Marketing Specialist
Department: Marketing, Communications and Experience (MCX) Reports to: Marketing Manager Status: Part time, Seasonal Hours of Work: Approximately 24 hours per week, generally between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. This hybrid position is typically in-office Wednesdays and Thursdays, with flexibility based on candidate availability and team needs. Seasonal position from October through December.
Position Overview
The Seattle Aquarium, a leading marine conservation organization, is looking for a Digital Marketing Specialist who will bring passion and care to our website and other digital projects. This specialist collaborates with the Marketing Manager. Both roles are responsible for planning, implementing, managing, monitoring, and upgrading the website; writing new content, creating new pages and functionality, and editing existing content.
Essential Functions:
- Organize web content and update website as required.
- Collaborate with the team to ideate and deliver new content projects.
- Build new web content including blogs, event listings, and other pages using written copy, photos, and graphics provided by the team.
- Optimize content for SEO (search engine optimization), minimal page load times, and complete other optimizations as needed.
- Help ensure content meets web accessibility standards.
- Assist with email list management, building visitor acquisition emails, member renewal notices and other emails as needed through MailChimp.
- Utilize a project management system
- Participate in advancing and integrating into their work diversity, equity, inclusion and regenerative practices in alignment with the Aquarium's S.A.L.I.S.H. values.
- Other duties of a comparable level/type as assigned.

- Demonstrated understanding of the Aquarium's mission and values, including regenerative and equity work, passion for and commitment to the health of the ocean.
- Interest in the fields of marketing, advertising, and communications
- Able to build relationships to support collaborative work.
- Consistently and proactively communicate, track, and organize work to keep self on track and others in the loop.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office software including Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Experience with website development and management including HTML, CSS or content management systems is a plus, but not required
- Experience with search engine marketing and digital advertising is a plus but not required.
- Ability and desire to learn new software and systems.
- A preference for Multilingual or English speakers with comfort and practice communicating across cultural and language barriers.
Working Conditions:
- When on site, most of the work is performed in a typical office setting at a computer workstation in a semi-private work area. We work in a campus environment that involves moving between buildings in all weather conditions.
- Fine motor movements in fingers/hands to operate equipment and to work on computers.
