The Work You Will Do: DOT Internship – D5 - Fall 2026 Semester / August to December We are looking for a highly motivated team member who desires to work on a dynamic team and with other departments within FDOT District 5. Where You Will Work: FDOT District Five Materials and Research 1650 North Kepler Road DeLand, Florida 32724 Hourly Rate: $15.00 Your Specific Responsibilities: Assist with Concrete Testing and Mix Design Approval: Evaluate concrete mix designs and oversee testing procedures in strict compliance with FDOT standards and approved methodologies (including ASTM and ACI specifications).

Accurately document and report all findings. Assist with Plant Inspections: Conduct comprehensive inspections of production facilities, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards. Document and report all inspection outcomes.

Assist with Plan and Documents Review: Review Quality Control Plans, Drilled Shaft Installation Plans and other critical technical submittals to support Departments operations. Document and report all findings. Assist with Logistics and Transport: Manage the safe transport of required materials, samples and equipment to and from District Materials and Research Office as needed.

The Successful Candidate will have the following required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of: Planning, organizing and coordinating work assignments. Skills in: Use of a personal computer (PC) and Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Organization, time management, and task prioritization.

Ability to: Understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Minimum Qualifications: Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age. Must be authorized to work in the United States and provide identification supporting citizenship or authority to work for the duration of program participation.

Participants are required to comply with all statutes and rules and the Departments policies, procedures, regulations, and Code of Ethics. Possess a valid class "E" Florida Driver's license. Preferred Requirements: Able to work a minimum of 6 hours a day.

Ability to pick up to 50 lbs. and move around uneven terrain without assistance. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Communicate effectively with others and follow oral and written instructions.

This position requires a valid Class (A, B, C, or E) driver license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with the Department's Driver's Record

Requirements Policy. An unacceptable driving record is defined as any of the following: three (3) or more moving violations in the past three (3) years that accumulate three (3) or more points per violation; any two (2) convictions of reckless driving in the past three (3) years
