About the role

Standard Editorial Internship at DC Life Magazine

Our interns gain hands-on experience working closely with top editors in an environment that is both creative and collaborative. As an intern, you will be an integral part of the team responsible for researching, writing and editing this premier monthly publication.

A positive attitude and a willingness to learn are the most important prerequisites needed to apply.

Interns help us to connect more intimately with our audience by observing life in and around the city. Throughout D.C. interns will be our eyes, ears, and feet of the magazine. You will work on an array of projects, from fashion photoshoots to charity fundraisers. Interns will be assessed and graded openly by their level of contribution. Top assignments and rewards are based on your strengths and your initiative to produce relevant content. Typical intern projects include: proofreading articles, fact-checking stories, researching writing, conducting interviews and investigations, attending concerts, parties and social events, restaurants reviews, nurturing potential story leads, uploading artwork, and email newsletter design.

Advanced Writing Internship Program at DC Life Magazine:

This is an opportunity for an experienced writer with some professional writing experience who is interested in a career in magazine journalism. Writing interns can expect to receive one-on-one coaching from DC Life magazine editors and will be given several longer assignments that will be published in the magazine. Candidates must submit published writing samples with their application, to be considered for this internship. There is flexibility in the length of this internship.
