2026 Engineering Intern

Position Summary
UCA is seeking a motivated and hands-on Engineering Intern to support the engineering team with the managing documents, data and other day-to-day functions of the engineering department. This role provides real‑world experience in a manufacturing environment and is ideal for students interested in data collection, analysis and applied engineering within a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Data Collection and Analysis
- Assist with collection and analysis of field service data to highlight areas of concern.
- Document KPI to gauge the effectiveness of customer service support team.
- Assist with reporting results, identifying trends, and documenting findings
- Participate in design reviews and collaborate with cross-functional teams
Manufacturing Support
- Assist in designing and implementing automated firmware or product programming stations
- Support documentation including schematics, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials (BOMs) for maximizing production efficiency.
- Assist with releasing jobs to production, engineering change requests (ECRs) and updates for new and existing products
- Perform electrical assembly, wiring, and prototype builds
- Use hand and power tools to support lab, test, and manufacturing activities
- Work with production personnel to identify areas for improvements
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a technical degree in Engineering, or similar field
- Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Familiarity with electrical or mechanical assembly and laboratory equipment
- Basic familiarity with drafting and 3D modeling tools

- Exposure to mechanical design, electrical layouts, or product drawings
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and eager to learn
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a collaborative, hands-on environment
