About the role

The Immigrant Youth Casework Intern supports our team in Miami-Dade to deliver essential services to immigrant children and their families. You will help connect clients with community resources to improve self-sufficiency and participate in outreach initiatives. This role provides experience in trauma-informed, client-centered care and community asset mapping.

What you'll do

  • Assist caseworkers with school enrollment, public benefits applications, and client advocacy.
  • Conduct research to identify local community resources.
  • Perform outreach to local organizations to establish partnerships.
  • Manage client case notes and maintain accurate files.
  • Communicate case statuses and coordinate service plans with your supervisor.

What you'll need

  • Strong communication and writing skills.
  • Attention to detail and good organizational habits.
  • Ability to work independently and manage pressure.
  • Interest in international issues and a desire to help people.
  • Computer literacy, specifically with PC systems.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable access to an insured vehicle.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and pass a background check.

Location & details

  • Location: Miami, Florida.
  • Modality: Hybrid.
  • Term: Fall 2026, beginning the week of September 8th.
  • Commitment: Minimum of 15 hours per week for at least 3 consecutive months.
  • Compensation: This is an unpaid internship.
  • Majors: Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, Communications, Human Resources, Public Health, International Relations, or Criminal Justice.
