High School Counseling Intern — Support Student Growth
Summary
Community Unit School District 200 is seeking a High School Counseloring Intern (unpaid) to provide assistance in the counseling office in the following areas:
- College, career, personal and social counseling advisement with students/parents individually, in small and large groups on all aspects of educational planning
- Development/implementation of programs to meet needs of students and parents
- Collection and reporting of data (NACAC website)
Certification/Qualifications
- Working towards a Master's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in School Counseling
- Classroom experience preferred
Essential Duties
- Provides school counseling services to help students address academic, personal/social, and career development needs
- Collaboratively works as a member of problem-solving teams to address student needs; works closely with student's family, staff, administration and outside agencies as needed
- Advises and assists students in the planning and preparation of post-secondary goals including school enrollment, course selection, and the scheduling of classes in order to meet those goals
- Participates in, coordinates, or conducts activities which contribute to the counseling program and effective operation of the school including crisis intervention, responsive services and system support
- Pursues professional growth
- Carries out other duties as assigned by supervisors
