Overview

The Research Department at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis offers a high school internship for students with an interest in economics and who have completed or intend to complete economics coursework. The internship provides exposure to economics research and helps students acquire technical skills and training for post‑high‑school studies.

Eligibility

Candidates must have completed or intend to complete economics coursework and must be currently working toward a high school diploma.

Responsibilities

The intern will assist a research economist with tasks including statistical analysis, literature reviews, library research, and data entry. The intern will have opportunities to learn about ongoing economic research through conversations with economists and by attending Research Department seminars.

Schedule and Compensation

  • Scheduled Hours Per Week: 6-10 hours per week (Mon‑Fri during business hours), 100% on‑site at the Bank
  • Internship Term: September 2026–May 2027 (academic year)
  • Pay: $17.00 per hour

On‑site Requirements

Employees in this role are expected to work onsite most days, although some flexibility may be available on an ad‑hoc basis.
