Hospitality Management & Restaurant Operations Intern

University Weiner is seeking a motivated and ambitious Hospitality Management & Restaurant Operations Intern to gain hands-on experience in the day-to-day management and strategic growth of an emerging restaurant brand. This internship offers exposure to nearly every aspect of restaurant ownership, providing valuable experience for students interested in hospitality, foodservice, entrepreneurship, and restaurant operations. Working directly alongside ownership and management, the intern will develop practical skills in financial management, menu engineering, research and development, leadership, catering and events, marketing, and restaurant operations. The position may also provide opportunities to assist with strategic growth initiatives and the development of future locations.

Responsibilities

Hospitality Management & Restaurant Operations Intern

  • Learn restaurant financial systems and reporting.
  • Assist with inventory management and food cost analysis.
  • Analyze sales and labor trends.
  • Understand key performance indicators (KPIs) and profit optimization.
  • Support purchasing and vendor relationships.
  • Participate in budgeting and forecasting activities.

Menu Planning & Engineering

  • Assist with menu development and pricing strategies.
  • Analyze menu performance and profitability.
  • Learn recipe costing and contribution margin analysis.
  • Help standardize recipes and procedures.
  • Evaluate guest feedback and menu trends.

Research & Development

  • Participate in new menu item creation and testing.
  • Conduct competitive analysis and industry research.
  • Explore food and beverage trends.
  • Assist in product tastings and innovation initiatives.

Leadership & Operations

  • Develop leadership and communication skills.
  • Participate in employee onboarding and training.
  • Assist with team scheduling and labor management.
  • Learn restaurant systems and standard operating procedures.
  • Gain exposure to quality assurance and food safety practices.
  • Support daily operations and problem-solving.

Events & Catering

  • Assist with catering events and special functions.
  • Help coordinate community partnerships and promotional events.
  • Support event logistics and guest experience initiatives.

Marketing & Brand Development

  • Assist with social media and content creation.
  • Support marketing campaigns and community outreach.
  • Analyze customer feedback and guest experience.
  • Contribute ideas for promotions and brand growth.

Strategic Growth Initiatives

  • Participate in operational planning and business strategy discussions.
  • Support projects related to future growth opportunities.
  • Assist with concept development and expansion initiatives.
  • Gain exposure to the process of growing and scaling a restaurant brand.

Qualifications

  • Current student or recent graduate pursuing Hospitality Business, Foodservice Management, Business, Marketing, Culinary, or a related field.
  • Passion for restaurants and hospitality.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to learn.
  • Desire to become a future leader within the hospitality industry.
  • Stand for up to 6 hours
  • Lift up to 50lbs
  • Work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Have excellent customer service skills
