Overview
Reporting to the Director of HR, assist in administrative HR tasks as assigned. This internship program is designed for students or recent graduates seeking hands-on professional experience in Human Resources.
**Job Title:** Human Resources Intern (Paid)
**Status:** Part time
**Pay Rate:** $21.00/hour
**Schedule:** Approximately 20 hours per week during standard business hours

This extended internship is designed to provide meaningful exposure to internal HR operations over the course of an academic year.
**Location:** San Diego, California
**Remote/Onsite:** Hybrid
This position can be a hybrid telecommute position after the initial training period and after the candidate has successfully shown they understand and can manage all position responsibilities. After initial training period, in office is expected 1-2 days per week.
Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Human Resources Intern to join our HR team in a dynamic healthcare environment. This paid internship offers hands-on experience across multiple HR functions, including payroll, benefits administration, employee relations, and HR operations. The intern will work closely with a collaborative HR team of four and receive direct mentorship from experienced HR professionals. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in pursuing a career in Human Resources.

While performing duties, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, read, write, type and respond in English and understand clinical/medical vocabulary written and spoken.

Physical Demands
This position primarily involves office-based work including prolonged sitting, computer use, occasional standing, walking between office locations, and lifting up to 15 pounds of office materials. Must be able to safely ascend and descend stairs as a core part of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, when no elevator or lift is present.
Work Environment
Position is primarily office-based with flexibility for remote work, as approved after training is complete. Employees will be required to routinely use standard office equipment, including a laptop, computer, mouse, monitors, scanner and/or photocopier. Employees working remotely must maintain a reliable internet connection and a quiet, professional workspace that supports productivity during scheduled working hours. Remote work eligibility is contingent upon maintaining an appropriate and effective remote work environment, including necessary workspace furnishings and internet access.
About Balboa United
Beginning in 1973, Balboa has grown from two physicians to a comprehensive nephrology team of 52 board certified physicians and 8 advanced practitioners. On January 1, 2018, Balboa Nephrology Medical Group (BNMG) launched Balboa United, a full-service medical practice management services organization. From one small office, BNMG now has 24 clinical offices throughout San Diego, Imperial, Orange and Riverside counties. In addition to office and hospital-based patient care, Balboa physicians manage the dialysis treatments of approximately 4,500 patients at 88 dialysis centers and conduct Nephrology based clinical research at 6 centers throughout Imperial and San Diego counties (California Institute of Renal Research).
