Position

INDUSTRIAL EDUCATION/Electricity 2026-2027 INDUSTRIAL EDUCATION/Electricity Orange County Public Schools, Orange Technical College East Campus – Orlando, Florida

Purpose

To provide an appropriate educational atmosphere which encourages positive student learning and to participate in a dynamic setting with other classroom teachers, administrators, curriculum specialists, staff, and program advisory members in the development and implementation of the school's programs and goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher degree from an accredited institution.
• Valid Florida Department of Education certification or Statement of Eligibility in an appropriate degreed area as listed in the State Curriculum Frameworks.
• For non‑degreed candidates: High school diploma or GED and six years of full‑time occupational experience in the appropriate certification area, or two years of full‑time occupational experience combined with one of the following: AA, AS, or Bachelor's degree in the career subject.
• Completion of a state‑approved apprenticeship program.
• Completion of a state‑approved Career and Technical Education Training Program.
• Licensure through a state or national credentialing agency.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of prescribed curriculum and child development; ability to communicate effectively using written and oral communication skills; knowledge of current research; basic knowledge of technology; planning and organizational skills; ability to manage the classroom and supervise students; skill in analyzing, diagnosing and evaluating student progress and programs; knowledge of varied learning styles; ability to use effective, positive interpersonal skills; commitment to a core set of beliefs about teaching, learning, and ongoing professional development.

Reports To

School Principal/Director.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Work with administrators and instructional teams to plan and implement hands‑on programs and activities for students and the school.
• Participate as an active member with other faculty and staff.
• Plan, implement and evaluate programs of continuing school improvement.
• Manage classroom and supervise proper care of equipment used.
• Participate in personal professional growth activities focused on the acquisition of new and improved skills and knowledge.
• Diagnose and analyze student progress and programs to provide appropriate instruction based on the developmental stages of students.
• Utilize a variety of instructional techniques to meet the individual needs of students.
• Utilize technology and current research in instruction.
• Evaluate students' progress on a regular basis.
• Utilize classroom management techniques conducive to an effective classroom climate.
• Show sensitivity to students, parents and the community and promote student self‑esteem.
• Maintain professional relationships between the school and parents, maintaining contact through conferences, telephone or written communications.
• Encourage parental involvement through school activities, connecting home and school.
• Maintain all records as required, including but not limited to grade books, attendance records and student progress reports.
• Assist in the protection of student and school property.
• Keep up to date on current technology used by OCPS and attend training to maintain skill level.
• Maintain timely and accurate information as part of job responsibilities.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the principal/director.

ADA Compliance

Physical ability: moderate effort in light work, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling; lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling moderate weight (10‑20 pounds).

Sensory requirements: visual perception and discrimination; oral communication and hearing.

Environmental factors: exposure to adverse conditions such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature extremes, noise, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, animals, toxic agents, violence, disease.

Evaluation

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the OCPS Instructional Personnel Evaluation System procedures manual.
