Intern - Embedded Systems & Artificial Intelligence

Role

Assist senior engineers with design, development, and optimization of embedded software systems and AI models, with focus on optimization for resource-constrained hardware. Support AI model inference and training on embedded platforms, utilizing decentralized and distributed training methodologies. Support a software stack, including support for both inference and training processes. Learn from and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve product performance. Aid in monitoring and analyzing equipment behavior using AI-driven approaches to detect anomalies in utility and metering systems.

Duration

To start immediately, full-time hours for summer, potential for part time into fall academic term.

Required Skills & Experience

Education: - Enrolled in a related degree program (preference for hardware, firmware, electrical, and/or advanced coursework in software)

Technical Skills: - Exposure to embedded systems - Intermediate programming abilities in languages such as C, C++, and Python for embedded systems - Strong mathematical skills (preference, linear algebra, calculus, probability, and statistics)

Other Requirements: - Able to work onsite at Itron's San Jose office - Professional workplace communication skills

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Previous academic or work experience on projects related to AI and/or embedded systems
• Understanding of machine learning

Location & Compensation

San Jose, California: $25-$57.69/hr
