**Job Description** We are seeking a highly motivated and culturally competent undergraduate Research Assistant to support a community-based study focused on Korean and Korean-American populations. This role involves direct outreach, bilingual communication, and administrative support, offering hands-on experience in participant recruitment and community-engaged research. Orientation and training on research ethics, recruitment protocols, and cultural sensitivity will be provided, as well as ongoing mentorship and supervision by the research team.
Responsibilities
**Community Outreach & Engagement** - Identify Korean organizations and businesses online that may support study outreach. - Participate in in-person outreach activities as needed. - Demonstrate professionalism when interacting with community leaders and organizational contacts.
**Recruitment Communication & Dissemination** - Share study announcements via Korean-American online platforms (e.g., Kakao Talk, Instagram, forums). - Distribute printed and digital materials in online/offline communities (e.g., churches, senior centers, cultural events). - Make outreach phone calls and speak with representatives to build and maintain recruitment partnerships. - Translate study materials (e.g., announcements, consent forms) into Korean when needed. - Monitor and report responses and inquiries to the research team.
**Support, Strategy & Development** - Contribute to the development and improvement of recruitment strategies through team meetings. - Maintain detailed recruitment logs and prepare status reports for team meetings. - Participate in weekly team meetings and apply research ethics and best practices.
**Required Qualifications** - Currently enrolled undergraduate student. - Fluent in Korean and English (spoken and written). - Strong interpersonal and communication skills. - Interest in community-based research and Korean-American communities. - Responsible, organized, and able to work independently in a team environment. - Prior experience in outreach or translation is a plus.
