About TPG Life Sciences Innovations

TPG Life Sciences Innovations is a dedicated platform within TPG that partners with companies developing disruptive science and business models to improve outcomes for patients with significant unmet medical needs. LSI invests thematically across the life sciences ecosystem, with a core focus on therapeutics as well as commercial-stage medical devices, diagnostics, and tech-enabled healthcare services. The team leverages deep scientific, clinical, and operational expertise to drive value from company creation through clinical proof-of-concept.

Description of Position

The LSI fellowship is intended for candidates who want direct exposure to life sciences investing and are able to support active diligence in a practical, analytical way. We are looking for someone who can help the team build the analytical foundation for investment decisions, including clinical datasets, competitive landscapes, disease-area overviews, trial trackers, market maps, and clear investment materials. The strongest candidates will be comfortable moving between a PubMed paper, a clinical trial readout, a competitive landscape, and an Excel model. This role is likely best suited for someone with prior experience in biotech, life sciences consulting, healthcare investing, equity research, investment banking, corporate strategy / BD, or a related analytical role. Scientific training is helpful, but an advanced degree is not a prerequisite; the ideal candidate can quickly understand biotech diligence questions and translate them into practical, high-quality analytical work.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Support diligence on active investment opportunities across therapeutics, medtech, and healthcare platforms
  • Build clinical, scientific, commercial, and competitive analyses to help answer core investment questions
  • Create disease-area overviews, treatment algorithms, trial trackers, competitive landscapes, and product profiles
  • Analyze clinical data, including efficacy, safety, trial design, patient populations, endpoints, and benchmark comparisons
  • Help translate diligence findings into clear PowerPoint pages, tables, charts, and investment committee materials
  • Support market sizing, valuation, comparable company / transaction analysis, and returns workstreams where relevant
  • Conduct thematic research on areas of interest and monitor relevant companies, financings, clinical readouts, and regulatory updates
  • Help prepare for KOL, clinician, company management, and advisor calls, including question lists and post-call summaries

Qualifications

  • Early-career professionals or MS, MBA, PhD, or MD candidates interested in biotech investing are encouraged to apply
  • Strong scientific and/or biopharma foundation, with ability to quickly get up to speed on new mechanisms, indications, and datasets
  • Excellent analytical judgment and attention to detail, particularly around clinical data, dates, sources, and numbers
  • Strong PowerPoint and Excel skills; able to create clean, structured, decision-useful work product
  • Clear written communication and ability to synthesize complex information into concise takeaways
  • Prior experience in biotech, life sciences consulting, equity research, investment banking, corporate strategy / BD, or a related role considered a bonus

Program Structure

We are open to a few formats depending on candidate fit and availability:

  • Part-time fellowship: ~15–20 hours per week, with flexibility around school or work schedules
  • Summer fellowship: Full-time or near full-time over a 10–12 week period
  • Potential for a longer-term arrangement for candidates who are a strong fit and can continue contributing meaningfully beyond the summer

Application
