About the Role

GLDS is seeking a resourceful and technically capable Market Research Intern to support our sales and marketing intelligence efforts. This role relies heavily on web research. The candidate will use tools including ChatGPT, HubSpot, ZoomInfo, and Microsoft Excel to identify, verify, organize, and analyze information about broadband service providers, prospective customers, competitors, vendors, and industry trends. Strong ChatGPT skills are required. Experience with HubSpot and ZoomInfo is preferred, but GLDS will provide training on those platforms to a candidate who demonstrates strong research ability, technical aptitude, and attention to detail. This is not an outbound sales position or a traditional marketing role. The focus is market research, CRM data quality, data enrichment, and development of useful business intelligence.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct web research on broadband providers, prospects, competitors, vendors, and industry organizations.
  • Identify and verify company details, decision-makers, contact information, service territories, technology platforms, and other market intelligence.
  • Use ChatGPT to improve research, analyze information, normalize data, and solve problems.
  • Verify AI-generated information through reliable independent sources.
  • Update and enrich company and contact records in HubSpot.
  • Use ZoomInfo to locate and validate company and contact information.
  • Identify and correct incomplete, outdated, duplicate, or inconsistent CRM records.
  • Build and maintain prospect lists, market databases, competitor records, and conference attendee lists.
  • Analyze findings to identify market trends, sales opportunities, and gaps in GLDS' existing data.
  • Document research sources, methods, and repeatable processes.
  • Prepare clear summaries for GLDS sales, marketing, and executive teams.

What You'll Have

  • Current enrollment in, or recent completion of, a related college degree program is required.
  • Strong web research skills and sound judgment when evaluating online information.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using ChatGPT or another generative AI tool for research, analysis, or problem-solving.
  • Ability to write effective prompts, refine AI results, and independently verify information.
  • Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Comfort working with spreadsheets, CRM systems, databases, and structured business information.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including sorting, filtering, comparing, and organizing data.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple assignments, and follow projects through to completion.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new online research and data-management tools.
  • HubSpot or ZoomInfo experience is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with market research, CRM data management, sales intelligence, broadband, or telecommunications is helpful but not required.

Interview Process

Qualified candidates will complete a virtual video interview which will likely include either a live demonstration of market research skills, or the presentation of an offline market research project. Final in-person interview in our Carlsbad office.

Work Model

This is a part-time, temporary, in-person position in GLDS' Carlsbad office. The anticipated schedule is approximately 20 hours per week for approximately six months. Qualified candidates will complete a phone screening and one or more interviews, including an in-person interview. Candidates may also be asked to complete a practical exercise demonstrating web research, ChatGPT, spreadsheet, and data-evaluation skills. GLDS is an equal opportunity employer.
