About the role

Songbyrd Music House is a 250 capacity venue in Washington, DC. Songbyrd recently received a "Music in Action" Grant from the Live Music Society based on their application to grow "Gen Z" and college-aged audiences in live music, specifically at small, independent venues. Our Program's core belief is directly listening to and trusting this demographic to inform marketing strategy and activities.

To achieve this, we are using our funding to select up to 2 students from up to 5 universities in the DC area to participate in a program focused on researching, hypothesizing, and testing college-aged consumption, trends, and habits relating to concert attendance. Students will survey and poll their university population, use their findings to build a marketing strategy for the semester, and test those strategies within a finite budget. Students will receive a $1000 stipend for 4-5 hours a week throughout the semester.

Participants can expect to work within email marketing, grassroots marketing, advertising, and more. Songbyrd is looking for students particularly interested in live entertainment, that are in a band, regularly attend live events (e.g. concerts, sports events, etc.). High interest majors include marketing, communications, hospitality, business, and entertainment related tracks.

Having a go-getter mentality is a must, individuals that can brainstorm and execute will be the most successful in this program. The more the student applies themselves, the better results they will have in this hands-on opportunity. Application closes on September 3rd Selected participants will be notified by September 10th An in-person orientation will be scheduled for the week of September 14th DC Area college students apply HERE !
