About the role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Intern to support a large-scale medical records transition project. This position will assist with migrating records from a legacy system to a new electronic system, as well as organizing and digitizing paper files. This is a hands-on opportunity to gain experience in healthcare administration, data management, and electronic records systems. This internship is projected to last 4-6 weeks, totaling around 20-50 hours.
Key Responsibilities
The following duties are representative of the work performed in this position and are not intended to be all-inclusive:
- Retrieve medical records from a legacy system and prepare them for transfer
- Upload and accurately input data into the new electronic records system
- Review records for completeness and accuracy prior to migration
- Scan and digitize paper files into electronic format
- Organize and file physical documents in accordance with established procedures
- Maintain confidentiality and security of all patient records in compliance with HIPAA standards
- Assist with identifying and resolving discrepancies in records
- Support general clerical and administrative tasks as needed
