The Washington Post offers a summer internship program for college students interested in visual journalism. Interns work alongside staff members on breaking news, features, and enterprise projects. You will contribute to the newsroom by reporting, editing, shooting, and designing content across various platforms.
What you'll do
- Report and write articles or edit copy.
- Take photographs, shoot and edit video, and create graphics.
- Design on multiple platforms and develop audience strategy.
- Perform data analyses.
- Collaborate with reporters and editors on news coverage.
What you'll need
- Enrollment as a college junior, senior, or graduate student in a degree program.
- Commitment to accuracy, clarity, and journalistic rigor.
- Proficiency in Photoshop CS and photo management software for photo interns.
- Proficiency in digital video/audio and editing software like Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere for video interns.
- Majors in Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, or English.

- This is an on-site internship based in Washington, District of Columbia.
- The program runs during Summer 2027.
- This is a full-time, paid position at $1021.13 per week.
