As a Survey Interviewer Intern, you will support an important research study focused on the health and well-being of Ghanaian immigrants living in the United States. Your cultural awareness, communication skills, and passion for learning will help contribute to meaningful research designed to improve health outcomes and advance scientific knowledge.

Working alongside experienced researchers, you will gain hands-on experience in survey administration, participant engagement, data collection, and population health research while contributing to a study funded by the National Institute on Aging.

This internship offers a unique opportunity to apply academic knowledge in a real-world research environment. You will work directly with study participants, develop research skills, and gain valuable exposure to health and population research methods.

What You'll Do:

• Conduct telephone interviews with individuals participating in a research study.
• Complete brief eligibility screening calls to determine participant qualification for study enrollment.
• Administer structured survey questionnaires using approved research protocols.
• Accurately enter survey responses into Qualtrics using tablet-based technology.
• Maintain participant confidentiality and follow all research compliance requirements.
• Communicate professionally and respectfully with study participants from diverse backgrounds.
• Collaborate with the research team to support successful study implementation and data collection activities.
• Assist in ensuring data quality, accuracy, and completeness.

What You'll Bring

Intern Requirements

Education

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited institution.
• Preference for students pursuing studies in public health, sociology, psychology, global health, epidemiology, social sciences, or related fields.

Preferred Experience

• Interest in health, population, or social science research.
• Previous experience conducting interviews, surveys, community outreach, or research activities is helpful but not required.
• Familiarity with Ghanaian culture and community engagement is strongly preferred.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Fluency in English required.
• Fluency in Twi or Ga Ghanaian languages required.
• Ability to interact professionally and respectfully with study participants.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate data collection.
• Familiarity with Qualtrics preferred.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information responsibly.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
