Environmental Art & Education Summer Intern

July 18 – August 23, 2026 · Lower East Side & South Bronx

What if your summer was spent weaving living willow sculptures with kids in the Bronx, co-creating pocket forests alongside neighborhood residents, and turning a closed-off NYC street into a weekly block party for the planet? 🌻

Sprouting Justice — Lower East Side (July 18 -27)

Weekly environmental justice street festivals in front of the Children's Magical Garden. Closed streets become stages for food justice, fashion + environment, recycling art, sacred geometry, and community celebration. We'll work with street trees and community members to collaboratively plant and tend pocket forests — living, growing acts of neighborhood resilience.

Rise Up! Green the Bronx (August 1 - 13)

At Maria Sola Therapeutic Community Garden, help children ages 8–13 build biomorphic living willow sculptures rooted in sacred geometry, and join families in creating collaborative pocket forests with street trees — learning firsthand how the urban canopy fights asthma and extreme heat on their own block.

Engaging Youth in Environmental Issues

You'll be a great fit if you:

• Love working with young people and believe joy is a tool for justice
• Bring a background in art, education, environmental work, or community organizing
• Care deeply about environmental justice and BIPOC community leadership
• Can make complex ideas playful, accessible, and culturally resonant
• Have prior experience working with youth — a definite plus
• Are social-media savvy and excited to document the work

Curiosity, commitment, and a willingness to create alongside community are what matter most. Individuals from underrepresented backgrounds in the arts are strongly encouraged to apply.
