Part-Time Student - Engineering - Waterloo, IA

Your Responsibilities

As a Part Time Student Engineering for JD Power Systems located in Waterloo, IA, you will:

• Provide design and testing support for the Power Cylinder, Cranktrain, and Geartrain module team
• Support laboratory test activities, including planning, coordination, and follow-up tasks
• Apply design experience to support fixture, component, or test-related design work
• Coordinate procurement of test fixtures
• Collect post-test measurements, collaborate with subject matter experts on material analysis, and support data processing and interpretation
• Gather and organize the information required to return parts to suppliers for detailed component analysis
• Complete limited scope design projects using engineering tools such as Creo
• Track key project metrics, including requirements approval status and verification progress

This position is NOT available to students on immigration visas

What Skills You Need

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree, ideally in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or any additional technical and relevant degrees may apply
• Some experience with design CAD software.
• Experience with Microsoft Office software including Excel and PowerPoint
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work 16-20 hours during the academic year
• Ability to work 30-40 hours during the summer semester
• Must be registered as a full-time student at a U.S. local accredited college/university
• Graduation date of Spring 2028 or later
• Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above
• Must be able to commute to the work location in Waterloo, Iowa, on a daily basis
