About the role
A Production Control Intern
Supports the production control team in monitoring, scheduling, and optimizing manufacturing or production processes to ensure efficiency, quality, and on-time delivery.
Core Responsibilities
- Assist in production scheduling: Help develop and maintain production schedules to align with company goals and customer delivery dates
- Monitor production flow: Track production rates, product standards, and workflow for multiple products or stages
- Data tracking & reporting: Record and analyze production data, identify deviations from standards, and prepare reports for supervisors
- Coordination: Liaise with departments such as procurement, quality assurance, engineering, and logistics to ensure smooth operations
- Problem-solving: Identify and address production issues to minimize delays and disruptions
- Resource planning: Support material planning and resource allocation to avoid shortages
- Quality control support: Assist in implementing and monitoring quality control programs
- Health & safety compliance: Ensure adherence to safety regulations during production activities
Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Earning a Associate or Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, operations, or a related field
- Technical skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), data analysis tools, and possibly ERP or production management software
- Process knowledge: Understanding of manufacturing or production processes, continuous improvement methodologies, and basic quality control principles
- Soft skills: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and ability to work independently and in a team
Example Duties in Practice
- Review daily production reports and flag any variances from planned output.
- Assist in creating project timelines and resource allocation charts.
- Support the setup of production control systems or workflows (e.g., SharePoint)
- Attend meetings with engineering, logistics, and quality teams to discuss production issues.
- Maintain accurate records of production batches, materials used, and quality test results.
