Concrete Division Project Engineer / Intern
Role
The Project Engineer's primary responsibility in the concrete division is assisting the project managers, project superintendents, and coordinating with project stakeholders to assist in project delivery. The project engineer makes sure that all items within the concrete scope are scheduled, approved, procured, and installed safely and per contract documents.
Essential Functions
The following responsibilities are general guidelines and not intended to be an exhaustive list of the full scope of responsibilities of this position. Duties and responsibilities are subject to change based on business needs and at managements' discretion.
- Producing and tracking RFI's to keep work progressing and to track additional costs/changes.
- Billing - tracking quantities installed; quantities paid for vs. Plan quantities.
- Change Orders - tracking any and all changes on the change order log.
- Generating plan takeoffs for assisting estimators, and for quantity tracking.
- Producing and tracking Submittals to ensure all items are approved in time for construction.
- Obtaining quotes and using estimator's vendors, to procure/purchase materials needed. Also, must track materials to be delivered on time to meet schedules.
- Scheduling- Create schedules for division 03 scopes - coordinate with project scheduler to make sure Div 03 schedule durations make it into the project schedule correctly.
- Estimator will review durations put together by project engineer to ensure it meets the budget.
- Cost analysis to determine most efficient way to perform certain functions
- AutoCAD drawings for the crews when detail is required (or Bluebeam)
- Getting General Plan together before work starts so that the crews know what to do and have everything they need to do it.
Who You Are
Experience
Minimum 2 years of work experience with Heavy Civil Construction OR a bachelor's degree in construction management / civil engineering. If candidate is currently working on obtaining their degree, part time internship is an option while candidate works on their degree.
Education
High school diploma or GED is required. Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction management is preferred.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Full time salary position, 50 hours per week Monday through Friday, 7 AM to 5 PM. Hours could fluctuate depending on project time frames etc. Intern Hours will be based on coursework load and times available. This will be coordinated with supervisor.
Physical Demands
This is an office position and also an onsite field position combined. You will be expected to complete office work, but also to perform site visits to review and resolve issues on the jobsite. This requires the ability to occasionally bend, stoop, reach, lift, move and carry office materials, equipment and supplies weighing 25 pounds or less. Position also requires the ability to work in outdoor elements, operate a motor vehicle, climb stairs and walk on uneven surfaces. Finger dexterity is required to operate a computer keyboard and calculator
