Job Summary
Cortex Construction Group LTD is seeking a motivated Project Engineer Intern to support our project management and field operations teams. This position provides hands-on experience in construction management, project coordination, estimating, documentation, and field supervision. The ideal candidate is currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architectural Engineering, or a related field and is interested in developing a career in the construction industry.
Responsibilities
- Assist project managers with the planning and coordination of construction projects.
- Review project drawings, specifications, contracts, and scopes of work.
- Assist with quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, subcontractor proposals, and bid comparisons.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation, including submittals, RFIs, change orders, meeting notes, and progress reports.
- Track material orders, deliveries, project schedules, and outstanding items.
- Communicate with subcontractors, suppliers, architects, engineers, and project stakeholders.
- Conduct site visits to observe progress and document field conditions.
- Take progress photographs and assist with daily or weekly field reports.
- Help verify that work is completed in accordance with project drawings, specifications, and applicable safety requirements.
- Assist with project closeout documents, warranties, punch lists, and payment packages.
- Perform other project-related duties as assigned.
Experience
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architectural Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
- Ability to read or willingness to learn how to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an office and field environment.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
- Previous construction experience is helpful but not required.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for occasional project-site visits preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus.
This position will include a combination of office work and visits to active construction sites. The intern may occasionally be exposed to noise, dust, weather conditions, uneven surfaces, and other conditions typically associated with construction sites. Appropriate personal protective equipment will be provided or required.

$20.00 - $25.00 per hour
