Responsibilities

Responsibilities of the Psychology Intern include but are not limited to participating in all seminars and training experiences, providing crisis intervention services, developing special projects in areas related to wellness, alcohol and other drugs, and student development. The Psychology Intern will be involved in outreach and consultation services in the above areas as well as in the area of diversity and screening days, supervising externs in outreach and consultation, assessment, and individual counseling. The Psychology Intern will also be involved in assessments for students. Please note that the Psychology Intern is expected to report to the Counseling Center on-site during working hours.

Position Duties

  • Provides psychotherapy and crisis intervention services to students.
  • Provides screening and assessment services to students.
  • Provides outreach and consultation services to general student body.
  • Supervises externs' clinical work.
  • Performs other such duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Supervision Exercised

  • Provides direct individual and group counseling/psychotherapy to students.
  • Provides screening and assessment services to students.
  • Provides outreach and consultation services to general student body.
  • Participates in special projects, outreach, committees, and other work related to the greater community.
  • Provides crisis intervention services.
  • Supervises externs' clinical work.
  • Participates in training seminars.

Work Hours

Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. in person, with additional hours as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Successful completion of coursework in an APA-accredited psychology doctoral program.
  • Completion of 400 clinical/intervention hours through externship or masters placements.
  • Letter of readiness from university Training Director, indicating that applicant is eligible and ready to apply for internship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a university counseling center.
