What is a sales engineer?

Many students are not even aware that sales engineering is a career option ("Sales Engineering is the greatest career no one knows about" National Society of Sales Engineers: https://www.nationalsse.org/). When most students think of sales, they think of a used car salesman caricature. The sales engineering role (especially at Teknic) couldn't be more different.

Almost all high-tech companies in the world employ sales engineers. A sales engineer is trained on all of the technical background of his/her company's products and then consults with customers to help them choose the optimal products for their machines based on application goals, technical requirements, and specifications.

At Teknic, our Sales Engineers go through a thorough training program to become motion control and machine automation consultants. Teknic Sales Engineers learn the electrical, software, and mechanical attributes of a wide range of motion control products and applications. They work directly with customers to understand their automation requirements and then, based on application goals and specifications, they help these customers select, integrate, program, test, and troubleshoot motion control products.
