About the role

Seminary Intern for Care United Church of Christ Purpose: The Seminary Intern for Care helps to imagine and build lasting systems of care that engage existing community groups and support and attract new members. This Intern will participate in church life at all levels and assist in planning and tasks related to training community leaders in care practices, organize and lead youth ministries, take part in worship celebrations, and help to organize Middle’s annual Freedom Rising Conference. Skills needed: Is kind, collaborative, candid, and has competency in multicultural settings.

Strong public speaking skills. Group facilitation experience. Ability in Google Suite, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams.

Position Details: Supervisor: Executive Minister for Hybrid Church Hours: 10 hours per week, including participation in Sunday worship onsite In addition to supervisor, collaborates closely with: Director, Events and Community Engagement Serves on the following teams and attends the following meetings: All Staff Worship Care Digi-Comms Key Responsibilities: Provides key support for LGBTQ+ programming that extends Middle Church’s movement into the world. Provides key support to Community Minister for Justice and Organizing for community organizing and social activism that extends Middle Church’s movement into the world. Engages in outreach to existing members at Middle Church and builds relationships to assess care needs.

Follows and takes part in ongoing evaluation of care protocol and procedures. Regularly participates in worship planning and duties. Engages in other congregational life activities and projects as they occur.

Checks email once daily, five days per week, and responds to requests promptly, recognizing that time-sensitive requests will be communicated in multiple formats. Performs other duties as required. Additional Responsibilities: Thinks strategically with colleagues about all aspects of the ministry of Middle Church, always asking Are we building community?

Are we nurturing spirits? Are we retaining members? Are we deploying activists?

Are we growing leaders? Are we developing internal and external partners? Are we raising Love to heal souls and the world?
