Social Media Marketing Intern — Los Angeles

We are seeking a creative, organized, and highly motivated Social Media Marketing Intern to assist with content creation, digital marketing, social media management, and event-related projects for a variety of Los Angeles-based clients. This is an unpaid internship requiring 25+ hours per week. Students who are actively enrolled in a college or university may be eligible to receive academic credit, subject to their school's requirements and approval. The internship is ongoing, with formal performance evaluations after the first three months and six months. We are looking for someone who is available to start immediately. Our long-term goal is to grow our creative team and potentially hire exceptional interns for future paid freelance, part-time, or full-time positions. This opportunity is an ideal starting point for someone looking to gain real-world experience working independently, developing a freelance career, or entering the Los Angeles creative marketing and events industries.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with on-location photo and video shoots throughout Los Angeles
  • Capture social-first content for Instagram, TikTok, and other digital platforms
  • Edit short-form videos, photography, graphics, and marketing materials
  • Create branded content using Canva and Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Assist with content calendars, social media scheduling, caption writing, campaign planning, and creative strategy
  • Research current social media trends, sounds, content formats, and marketing concepts
  • Organize footage, content files, project materials, and client deliverables
  • Assist with event preparation, production, marketing, and on-site content capture
  • Participate in at least one weekly Zoom or in-person meeting to discuss projects, deadlines, upcoming shoots, and creative direction
  • Support additional creative, marketing, event, and administrative responsibilities as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed studies in Graphic Design, Digital Marketing, Social Media Management, Marketing, Communications, Photography, Videography, Content Creation, Event Marketing, or another related creative field
  • Must have a valid driver's license, reliable personal vehicle, and the ability to travel to various client locations throughout Los Angeles
  • Must own or have regular access to personal camera equipment; a Canon G7X or comparable camera qualifies
  • Must have a laptop or desktop computer capable of supporting editing and content-creation duties
  • Proficient in Canva
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, and/or Premiere Pro
  • Familiarity with Instagram, TikTok, Reels, Stories, and other social media formats
  • Basic knowledge of photography, videography, lighting, composition, and editing
  • Strong visual eye and understanding of branding, design, and social media aesthetics
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organization, time management, and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, receive feedback, and work independently
  • Reliable, punctual, proactive, resourceful, and professional when communicating with clients and attending shoots
  • Comfortable working around varying client, content-shoot, and event schedules
  • Available to dedicate at least 25 hours per week to internship responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience editing short-form videos for Instagram Reels and TikTok
  • Familiarity with social media scheduling, analytics, or project-management platforms
  • Experience working with lifestyle, hospitality, wellness, beauty, fashion, food and beverage, or event-based brands
  • An existing portfolio, creative social media account, or examples of previous photography, videography, editing, or graphic-design work
  • Interest in pursuing a career in social media marketing, content production, brand strategy, creative direction, freelance marketing, or event production
  • Comfortable occasionally appearing in behind-the-scenes or social media content when appropriate

Internship Details

  • Compensation: Unpaid
  • Weekly commitment: 25+ hours per week
  • Start date: Immediate
  • Duration: Ongoing
  • Evaluations: Formal evaluations after three months and six months
  • Structure: Hybrid, consisting of remote editing and planning, weekly Zoom or in-person meetings, and on-location shoots throughout Los Angeles
  • Academic credit: May be available for actively enrolled college or university students, depending on institutional requirements
  • Travel expenses: Necessary parking expenses for approved shoots, meetings, and events will be covered; gas and mileage will not be reimbursed
  • Future opportunities: Strong performers may be considered for future paid freelance, part-time, or full-time positions based on performance, availability, and business needs
