Dr. Mingyan Xiao is hiring undergraduate research assistants for the CREST grant project. This NSF-funded work focuses on building a lightweight mutual authentication protocol for the Industrial Internet of Things. You will join a team of graduate and undergraduate researchers to explore security challenges and contribute to ongoing studies.
What you'll do
- Read and analyze recent research papers from major Computer Science journals and conferences.
- Propose new research ideas related to Cybersecurity for industrial IoT.
- Run vulnerability experiments on a real-world industrial IoT platform.
- Implement a lightweight mutual authentication protocol using hardware-based fingerprints.
- Dedicate 10 hours per week to research during academic semesters and the summer.
What you'll need
- Current enrollment in a STEM major at Cal Poly Pomona, specifically Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Cybersecurity.
- Ability to read, understand, and synthesize complex theoretical papers quickly.
- Strong communication skills for working with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Hands-on experience with hardware components including ADC, DAC, FPU, RTC, and SRAM is preferred.
