Overview
The Orange County Corrections Inmate Programs Internship provides undergraduate Criminal Justice students with the opportunity to gain exposure to correctional programming within a professional government environment. Interns support the Inmate Programs, Reentry and Transitional Services Unit by assisting with administrative tasks, program preparation, research, and operational support. This internship emphasizes professional development, observation, and engagement in initiatives that support individuals incarcerated at the Orange County Correctional Facility.
General Functions
Interns will assist the Inmate Programs and/or Reentry team by providing operational, administrative, and program support that contributes to daily unit functions.
Representative Duties/Assignments
- Assisting with preparation, organization, and distribution of materials for classes, and reentry services.
- Supporting staff with data entry, file maintenance, and organizing documents related to inmate program participation and attendance.
- Observing and co-facilitating program classes or orientations and attending staff meetings to gain insight into correctional programming and facility operations.
- Assisting with tracking program metrics, compiling statistics, and preparing summaries for internal reporting.
- Maintaining inventories of program supplies, handouts, and resource materials.
- Conducting basic research on community resources, reentry services, and best practices to support program development.
- Assisting with scheduling, communication, and coordination with volunteers, vendors, and partner agencies as directed.
- Performing administrative tasks such as scanning, copying, organizing digital files, and preparing program packets.
- Supporting special projects, audits, or quality assurance activities as assigned by the Unit Supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
- Enrollment in a Criminal Justice program

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite including Excel

Salary Information
- Pay Grade: 406 - From $16.40 to $16.95
- FLSA Status: Placement based on Education and Experience
