Work Study, Automotive
Role
The automotive work study supports Automotive Technology operations by assisting with lab setup, tool and equipment maintenance, inventory tracking, clerical tasks, repair database entry, campus errands, recruiting events, and organization of instructional materials and supplies.
Key Accountabilities
- Assist with lab setup
- Perform periodic maintenance and equipment repair
- Tool inventory
- Filing forms and worksheets
- Make copies
- Enter information into spreadsheets
- Enter vehicle information into repair database
- Run errands on campus
- Assist with recruiting efforts, e.g., Skills USA, Career Fair Day, College 101, etc.
- Assist instructor in keeping track of special tools
- Hand out and bill out small inventoried parts
- Organize tool cabinets
- Develop and maintain inventories, tasks lists and other spreadsheets

Required Skills and Qualifications
- Some knowledge of hand tools and a mechanical aptitude
- Ability to operate computer systems such as Microsoft Word and Excel; instruction will be provided on how to use Mitchell One
- Computer software skills for developing and maintaining inventories, tasks lists and other spreadsheets
- Good communication, customer service and problem solving skills
- Working knowledge of computers
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Demonstrate student centeredness
- Ability to interact with a broad range of people with diverse backgrounds in a positive manner
- Demonstrate a commitment to the philosophy and mission of the community college
Work Environment
This position requires light to moderate level of manual labor at times. The job is in a fast-paced environment.
Eligibility Requirements
- Must be a State Fair Community College student enrolled in the current semester
- Must be eligible for Financial Aid through the Federal Work-study program
- Employment will require a criminal background check at college expense
- Preference is given to Missouri residents
