Education Director Part-time position, 10-12 hours per week Second Parish’s Religious

Education program is entitled “Sunday Adventures” and takes place every Sunday after “A Time for All Ages”, during Sunday service (for approximately 45 minutes) from the first Sunday after Labor Day in September through Father's Day in June.

Responsibilities Program Development and Curriculum: implement and evaluate comprehensive UU education programs for children and youth that are aligned with UU principles and values, such as those based on love, interdependence, equity, and justice. Design “Sunday Adventures” program in collaboration with the RE committee and the minister. Staff management: Train and supervise paid junior staff who help facilitate “Sunday Adventures”.

Administration and Budget: Manage the RE program's budget and ensure compliance with policies and procedures, including “Safe Congregations Guidelines.” Communication and Community Engagement: effectively communicate with families, the congregation, and volunteers regarding RE programs and events. Foster positive relationships and ensure the RE program supports a thriving multi-generational community. Worship: participate in worship planning and activities that involve children and youth, such as the Christmas pageant.

Professional Development: stay informed about best practices in religious education, UU curricula, and educational theory.

Qualifications And Skills

Experience and education: a bachelor's degree, particularly in education or a related field, preferred.

Experience in managing mixed age groups. UU knowledge: familiarity with Unitarian Universalism, including its theology, values, programs, and principles.

Experience and commitment to UU principles, including anti-racism and multicultural education. Interpersonal and Communication Skills: excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to relate well with people of all ages and backgrounds. Organizational and Administrative Skills: effective organizational skills, the ability to prioritize tasks, and attention to detail to manage programs and resources effectively.

Leadership and Collaboration: the role requires leadership skills and the ability to effectively collaborate with ministers, staff, committees, and the congregation. Computer and Technology Skills: proficiency with basic computer applications such as word processing, e-mail and spreadsheets along with familiarity with social media and online resources.

Salary : $15,000 per year. 10-12 hours per week, including most Sundays during the school year.
