Job Summary

Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory Technician (CCL TECH) Salinas, California. Under the supervision of the Assistant Director Cardiology, this role performs technical procedures that require independent judgment and the safe application of ionizing radiation for radiological procedures in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. The position requires knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served on the unit. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.

Schedule

Day shift, 8-hour shifts, with some on-call; minimum 40.0 hours per week.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from a Radiologic Technology program or graduation from a CVT program
  • Minimum of one (1) year Cardiac Catheterization Lab experience
  • Epic experience with a minimum of six (6) twelve (12) months within the past year
  • CRT and Fluoroscopy (for Radiologic Technology program graduates)
  • BLS
  • For Radiologic Technology program graduates, ARRT registration with CI credentials OR RCIS OR RCES credentials from CCI OR CEPS certification from IBHRE
  • For CVT program graduates, RCIS OR RCES credentials from CCI OR CEPS certification from IBHRE

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate of a CAHEP accredited CVT program OR completion of 2 (two) years of Radiologic Technology training approved by AMA

Key Accountabilities

  • Assists with diagnostic fluoroscopic angiographic procedures, coronary and peripheral interventions, and electrophysiology procedures in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory
  • Assists in patient preparation for cardiac procedures and monitors patient condition pre- and post-procedure, reporting changes in condition to the physician or R.N. for follow-up
  • Supports preventative maintenance of Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory equipment, reports equipment malfunctions, and requests services when indicated
  • Assists with supply management and functions as an integral part of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory team
  • Initiates effective CPR measures and is familiar with the location and use of all emergency equipment
  • Assists in implementing and maintaining the Q.I. program related to radiological equipment and ongoing department initiatives
  • Adheres to established safety standards by following safety procedures/techniques when utilizing equipment and supplies and when performing procedures, including reporting unsafe conditions immediately to the patient care manager
  • Operates equipment according to the protocol of the procedure being performed; assists the physician with Cath Lab procedures and demonstrates knowledge of sterile technique
  • Pulls contrast media as appropriate for the procedure
  • Performs other duties as assigned
