About the role
Schedule: Mostly in-person with the founder; some remote editing work Travel: Occasional travel to Philadelphia, Boston, and other Booth cities may be required. Approved travel expenses will be covered. About Booth by USA DJ Training LLC Booth is a DJ school and in-person music community built around high-quality instruction, great studios, and real-world events.
We started 5 years ago as a DJ club at the University of Pennsylvania. Since then, we have grown into a business offering in-person DJ lessons in studios across multiple cities. Our belief is simple: DJing should be learned and experienced in person, not alone behind a screen.
We are now looking for someone to help document the next stage of the company as it grows.
Role Overview We are hiring a documentary-style videographer / content creator to spend time in person with the founder and capture the real process of building Booth. Most of the role will involve shadowing the founder throughout the day: working from a laptop, taking calls, talking with instructors, speaking with customers, planning events, traveling to studios , visiting lessons , and documenting the behind-the-scenes work of building the company. You will also film DJ lessons, student/instructor interactions, studio environments, events, and community moments in cities where Booth operates, including trips to places such as Philadelphia and Boston.
The goal is not to make overly polished corporate videos. The goal is to capture real moments that show what Booth is becoming: a growing in-person DJ school and community. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys documentary-style content, founder-led storytelling, music, startups, social media, and capturing things as they happen.
What You’ll Do Shadow the founder during workdays and capture documentary-style footage Film behind-the-scenes moments of building the business Capture founder calls, planning sessions, travel days, studio visits, and reflections Film DJ lessons, instructor/student interactions, studio spaces, and events Turn unscripted real-world footage into short-form content Edit videos for short-form posting, Meta ads, and landing pages Pull strong moments, quotes, reactions, and visuals from raw footage Help identify recurring content formats, storylines, and hooks (this aspect is assisted by our Marketing Lead) Organize footage clearly The Style We’re Looking For This is mostly a documentary-style role. We want content that feels real, candid, and natural, rather than overly scripted. You should be comfortable filming someone throughout the day without making the environment feel awkward or performative.
The right person will be able to capture: Founder moments Studio energy Students learning Instructors teaching Behind-the-scenes business-building Travel days Events and community Small details that make the company feel alive Think founder documentary, startup vlog, music community storytelling, and social-first short-form content. Example Content You Might Create A short founder documentary clip Day-in-the-life videos following the founder Behind-the-scenes clips from building Booth A travel/studio visit recap Clips of students learning to DJ for the first time Instructor/student moments inside lessons Event recaps Short-form videos about building the company Direct-response ads for DJ lessons Founder reflections, updates, and storytelling clips
Compensation & Schedule This is a paid part-time summer role. Pay: $25/hour Expected schedule: 20 hours/week The role will be mostly in person with the founder, with some editing and footage organization done remotely. Some weeks may include longer shoot days or travel days.
Other weeks may involve more editing, organizing footage, and creating clips from already captured material. The goal is to average approximately 20 hours per week. Approved work-related travel expenses, including transportation to cities such as Philadelphia or Boston, will be covered separately.
Local travel between shoot locations during scheduled work time will also be covered or reimbursed (e.g., LIRR or New York City Subway expenses). Paid Demo Period Before committing to the full summer role, we will begin with a paid demo period. This role is not easy to evaluate from a single short shoot.
Much of the work involves spending time in person with the founder, capturing moments throughout the day, traveling to studios or events, and turning unscripted footage into compelling short-form content. During the demo period, you may: Shadow the founder during work blocks or travel days Film behind-the-scenes moments of building the company Capture founder reflections, calls, meetings, and planning sessions Join a studio visit, lesson, or event if scheduled Edit short-form documentary-style clips from the footage Organize raw footage and select the strongest moments The paid demo period will be used to evaluate fit, filming ability, editing ability, speed, communication, taste, organization, and comfort with documentary-style work.
