About the role
We are hiring a Weather Science Intern for a 12-month term on our Consumer Weather Science team. This role is for a science-minded builder who understands weather, codes, and thinks like a product person. You will work alongside meteorologists, engineers, and product managers to improve consumer weather experiences used by millions. You will own real work and receive mentorship from our senior science and product team.
What you'll do
- Contribute to the Consumer Weather Science portfolio, including labs.weather.com experiments and flagship app features.
- Build and improve features covering severe weather, snow, pollen, and wildfires.
- Pressure-test the Storm Radar product against real in-field moments to evaluate latency and global coverage.
- Build small, working prototypes of new consumer experiences and internal tools using Python and agentic AI workflows.
- Analyze weather data, including radar, model output, and observations, to answer product questions and ensure features are meteorologically sound.
What you'll need
- Current graduate student or recent graduate in atmospheric science, meteorology, or a closely related quantitative field.
- Comfort with Python.
- Genuine curiosity about weather and a track record of teaching yourself new skills.
- Interest in AI and agentic tooling.
- Product and business instinct regarding how users experience a product.
Location & details
- This is a hybrid role based in Atlanta, GA, New York, NY, or Andover, MA.
- This is a paid, full-time equivalent position.
- The term is approximately 12 months, requiring about 30 hours per week in the summer and 10 hours per week during the school year.
- We do not offer visa sponsorship for this role.
