Join our year-round Human Resources Internship Program and gain hands-on experience supporting the people and programs that help move America forward.
As an intern, you'll gain exposure to Union Pacific's business operations, objectives, processes, and services while working on meaningful projects with real business impact. You'll collaborate with HR professionals, build your technical and leadership skills, and interact with peers and senior leaders across the organization.
This opportunity is intended for undergraduate students at the junior level or below who are enrolled in a college or university within commuting distance of Omaha, Nebraska, and have an interest in developing hands-on Human Resources experience. The work schedule is flexible and can be designed to accommodate the course commitments of the successful candidate. A flexible work schedule includes an average of 15–25 hours per week during the academic year, with up to 40 hours per week available during the summer months.
Internship opportunities are available across three Human Resources teams: Talent Acquisition, Culture, and Benefits. Depending on placement, interns will contribute to strategic initiatives, manage projects, collaborate with cross-functional partners, and gain valuable insight into how Human Resources supports Union Pacific's workforce and business goals.

Accountabilities
- Learn and perform core department business group work tasks, processes, and customer services
- Perform administrative support for department business group managers
- Develop and execute project action plans and perform team assignments
- Build and strengthen a network of professional contacts within departments and across the company
- Assist with project management for various company initiatives and complete administrative tasks and special projects
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications - Required
- College credits equivalent to one year toward an undergraduate degree
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills
- Basic organization, prioritization and time/project management skills
Qualifications - Preferred
- Pursuing an undergraduate degree with a focus in Human Resources, Business or a related field
Physical and Mental Job Requirements
- This position requires extended periods of sitting and extended hours in front of computer screens
- Maintains concentration, focuses on tasks and can make timely decisions
