At the New York Power Authority, you will be empowered to think big, do good, and transform the energy industry. We are a collaborative team of over 2,400 energy technologists, IT specialists, business experts, hydro engineers, and diverse professionals leading the energy revolution. With state-of-the-art technology, advanced research and development, a modernized infrastructure, and a focus on environmental, social and governance (ESG), we provide New Yorkers with low-cost, clean, reliable power — and we are well on the way to becoming the first end-to-end digital utility in the country.

The Controller’s Department is responsible for maintaining the Authority’s financial integrity by ensuring effective financial and fiscal controls, safeguarding assets, and overseeing accounting policies, procedures, and practices in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), regulatory requirements, and sound business practices.

The Department is seeking a motivated Summer Accounting Intern to support the Accounting team in maintaining strong financial controls, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting compliance with accounting policies and procedures. This internship provides hands-on experience in corporate accounting through participation in daily accounting operations, account reconciliations, financial analysis, reporting activities, and process improvement initiatives.

The Summer Accounting Intern will assist with the Authority’s post-go-live SAP S/4HANA ERP implementation by helping identify, analyze, and resolve data and reporting issues while supporting the development and validation of financial reports and analyses. The intern will gain exposure to financial reporting, and financial systems while working collaboratively with accounting professionals on projects designed to improve data quality, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency. The role will also provide opportunities to leverage tools such as SAP, SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), Power BI, and AI-enabled data analysis technologies.

The ideal candidate is pursuing a degree in Accounting, or a related business discipline and is interested in building a career in accounting. Candidates should possess strong analytical, problem-solving, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications. Familiarity with databases, ERP systems, Power BI, SAP/SAC reporting tools, AI-enabled analytics, or similar financial process or systems

Our paid 10-week Summer Developmental Internship program runs from June 8th - August 13th, 2026. As an Intern, you will receive professional development, on-the job experience in the energy industry, exposure to executives, and networking opportunities to help build a solid foundation for your future career.

Applications will close on December 31st, 2026.
