About the role
The Duke Initiative for Science & Society is seeking a Researcher to support the Trustworthy Technology Lab, which launched in Summer 2026. In this role, you will oversee student research projects and report to the Program Coordinator in charge of the Trustworthy Technology Lab.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Public Policy, Cybersecurity, Health Policy, or Technology Policy
- No additional experience beyond education is required. An Equivalent combination of relevant education/experience will be considered.
- Substantive knowledge in at least one area at the intersection of ethics and innovation (e.g. health, AI, privacy, climate, cybersecurity)
- Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
- Strong project management, interpersonal, stakeholder management, and attention to detail skills
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and manage multiple priorities
Preferred Qualifications
- Master of Arts in Public Policy
- Minimum of one year of experience in program administration, academic, instructional, or related activities, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
- Knowledge of or experience working in technology policy, health policy, or a related field
- Experience in relationship management, program/project management, communications, administrative operations, and reporting
Other Requirements
- Ability to manage student teams and research-related activities
In this role, you will:
- Recruit, onboard, and manage a multidisciplinary team of students to conduct novel research projects regarding trustworthy technology.
- Author publications, blogs, presentations, and other communications pieces about the research.
