About the job
The Short Version
To intern at fashion week, you apply directly to the production. The Bureau builds intern teams — backstage & production, front of house, PR & media, styling, and social content — across its three fashion weeks: Paris Fashion Week (October 2–3, 2026), Los Angeles Fashion Week (October 16–18, 2026), and New York Fashion Week (February 2027 — the September 2026 intern team is filled). You must be 18 or older. No fashion school requirement, no referral — submit the application below, the team personally reviews every submission, and if there’s a fit for an upcoming season you’ll typically hear back within 1–2 weeks.
Every show that runs on time has a crew behind it — interns are part of that crew.
01 — Why This Page Exists
The Fastest Way Into Fashion Is Working It
There are two ways to learn how fashion week actually works. One is reading about it. The other is standing backstage at 6pm on show day with a run of show in your hand, watching a production hit its cues. The internship is the second one.
Most people assume fashion week jobs happen through fashion school pipelines, family connections, or unpaid favors for a brand that never calls back. At The Bureau, they don’t have to. We produce fashion weeks in three global markets — New York, Paris, and Los Angeles — with hundreds of designers showing per season and events drawing 12,000–15,000+ people in person plus millions in digital reach. Every one of those seasons runs on a real production team, and intern roles exist across all of it: one application, personally reviewed, no referral required.
If you’re here for the short answer: skip to the application. If you want to know what interns actually do, how selection works, and what a season on the crew gets you, the next five sections cover it.
02 — The Work
What Interns Do at Bureau Fashion Weeks
This is production work, not a coffee run. Intern placements at a Bureau season fall into five tracks — you’ll pick your area of interest on the form:
- The engine room: run of show, model lineups, quick changes, cue coordination, and keeping a multi-show day moving on a hard clock. The closest seat in fashion to how a show actually gets made.
- The guest-facing season: check-in, seating, VIP handling, and guest experience for rooms of thousands. You learn how a major event moves people — and you’re the face of it.
- Press check-in, media wrangling, photographer positions, and step-and-repeat flow. Fashion week is one of the most-covered event formats on earth — this track is where that coverage gets managed.
- Garment prep, steaming, look boards, and dressing models backstage. Hands on the actual collections, working directly with designers’ teams under real time pressure.
- Capturing and supporting the season’s content — backstage moments, front-of-house energy, and the coverage that carries a show to millions. Bring a camera eye and an instinct for what travels.
One application covers all five — tell us where you want to be, and the team places you where it fits the season’s needs.
03 — The Team
Who We’re Looking For
You must be 18 or older by the show dates — that’s the one hard requirement. Beyond that:
Students & Recent Grads
Fashion, PR, event management, media, and business programs — the internship is a real production credit while you’re still building a resume. Note your school or program on the form; academic credit is worked out during placement.
Career Changers
You don’t need to be 20 to start. People moving into fashion, events, or media from another field bring exactly the reliability a production wants. A season backstage tells you fast whether this industry is for you.
Aspiring Producers
If you want to run shows one day, start by working them. Backstage and production interns see the entire machine — call sheets, cues, contingencies — from the inside of a real multi-show season.
PR & Comms Minds
Press-facing interns work real media at scale: check-in, credentials, photographer positions, and the choreography of a step-and-repeat. It’s the difference between studying PR and doing it.
Stylists in Training
Dressing and garment prep put your hands on real collections next to designers’ teams. Speed, care, and calm under pressure matter more than a fashion-school transcript.
Content Creators
If you shoot, edit, or run social, the content track puts you inside the most photogenic rooms of the season with access no street-style angle can match. Link your work on the form.
Not squarely on the list? Apply anyway and use the message field — the team reads every application, and the most interesting ones don’t always fit the grid.
04 — The Markets
Three Fashion Weeks, One Application
The Bureau produces fashion weeks in three global markets, each running season by season:
- October 2–3, 2026 — two seasons per year in the industry’s capital city. International applications welcome; note your base city in the form so the team can plan around it.
- October 16–18, 2026 — two seasons per year on the West Coast, with a heavy creator and entertainment-industry audience in the room.
- February 2027 — the flagship season in New York City. The September 2026 intern team is filled — applications are now open for February 2027, the largest intern team of the year.
Pick the market you can actually be in the city for — intern roles are on-site, in person, for the show dates. Curious what the events themselves are like? Start with what fashion week actually is and the NYFW hub.
05 — The Process
How Selection Works
The process is deliberately simple:
- Apply: Submit the form below — who you are, your area of interest, which market, your school or program if you’re in one, and a resume or portfolio link. Five minutes, free, 18+ only.
- Review: The team personally reviews every application — there’s no algorithmic filter. What carries the review: genuine interest in the track yo
