Biology Assistants (Filled) Biology Assistants conduct surveillance of the county's mosquito & covid populations for any disease threats SUMMARY OF DUTIES Monitor mosquito populations and mosquito-borne disease Trap and collect mosquitoes around the county Identify and sort mosquitoes Collect and sample dead corvids (crows and blue jays) Test the efficacy of products Hours & Wages Wages 1st year seasonals Biology Assistants $15.50/hr 2nd year seasonals Biology Assistants $16.50/hr Season is from April to October annually Full time seasonal positions available on both the day and night shifts Part time seasonal positions available only on the night shift

Qualifications 18 years of age before April 1st, 2026 Valid State of Michigan driver's license - no more than 5 points on record and no restrictions Proficient in reading maps and following directions Interact well with the public Pass pre-employment physical and drug tests as well as a criminal background check Field & Biology staff must be certified by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) 1st year employees must pass the MDARD Pesticide Applicator Core test Returning field and biology employees must be MDARD 7F (Mosquito) certified Testing options will be shared prior to start of employment A mandatory orientation is held prior to the start of the season
