As a Commercial Credit Intern at our Lansing – Abbot Rd. office, you will join a team of passionate problem solvers dedicated to protecting Independent Bank capital while serving the needs of our internal and external clients. In this full-time summer opportunity, you will work closely with Credit Analysts and gain hands-on experience with financial statement spreading, borrowing bases, commercial loan underwriting, and credit analysis. Gain full-time, hands-on experience during the summer. Receive development and mentoring from Independent Bank leaders and credit professionals. Collaborate with fellow interns, business partners, and credit team members.

Participate in a joint intern project and present your group’s recommendations to Independent Bank’s Executive Leadership Team. What You Will Do: Review credit information to assist in evaluating commercial loan requests. Assist with financial statement spreading, borrowing bases, and commercial loan underwriting.

Analyze personal and corporate tax returns, financial statements, and cash flow information to identify potential risks. Assist with monitoring the commercial credit portfolio. Analyze various sources of financial information to support credit decisions.

What We’re Looking For: Basic understanding of accounting and finance. Strong communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.

Experience with Microsoft Product Suites. Must be currently enrolled in a relevant field of study. Investing in your career can feel overwhelming when there are so many choices, and we understand your time is valuable.
