About the role
COMMUNICATIONS / MULTIMEDIA INTERNSHIP
The Chief of Strategic Communications is seeking a communications/multimedia intern who is full of creative ideas and eager to contribute on a large scale. The intern will assist with tasks related to public relations, marketing, and interagency coordination. Applicants must have excellent writing skills, demonstrate creativity, and understand the importance of clear, consistent communication.
Primary Duties
- Assist with promoting regional understanding of US policy and also US interagency awareness of the Center's activities, expertise, and impact.
- Creating, curating, and monitoring social media content.
- Writing and providing content for promotional materials, such as web articles, newsletters, and press releases.
- Designing promotional products and developing messaging themes and materials.
- Proofing materials for accuracy, consistency, clarity, style, grammar, etc.
Required Skills
- A background in international relations, journalism, communications, or marketing.
- A solid understanding of social media.
- Detail oriented, highly organized, and able to work independently.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Spanish language skills desired, but not required.
- Experience with graphic design tools preferred, but not required.
Time Commitment
At least 20 hours per week. We understand that interns may have other commitments, such as academic coursework and paid employment. The Perry Center tries to be very flexible with scheduling issues. Please keep in mind, however, that we favor interns who can regularly commit at least 20 hours/week).
Compensation
Internships at the Perry Center are unpaid.
