About the role

CONTENT CREATOR

This is a hands-on opportunity to create compelling, scroll-stopping content that connects dance with audiences who may never have set foot in a theater and makes them wish they had.

We're looking for 2 content creators to support Visceral Dance Center (1) and Visceral Dance Chicago (1)

Throughout the internship they will:

  • Shoot and edit short-form video content and photography for the Website, Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts that captures the energy, emotion, and physicality of dance.
  • Apply platform-native storytelling instincts (i.e. trending sounds, hooks, pacing, captions) to create content that stops the scroll and drives engagement.
  • Collaborate with the artistic and marketing team to develop a consistent content rhythm.
  • Capture behind-the-scenes footage at rehearsals and performances
  • Edit footage using mobile and/or desktop tools to produce polished, on-brand content at a fast turnaround.
  • Monitor performance metrics (views, reach, saves, shares) and use data to iterate on content strategy.
  • Assist in managing the social media content calendar and scheduling posts.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions for seasonal campaigns, performance launches, and audience growth initiatives.
  • Support the broader marketing team with photography and video as needed

Schedule:

Preferred availability is 3-4 days a week, 20-25 hours per week

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience creating and editing short-form video content, especially content geared toward dance, performing arts, or movement
  • Deep familiarity with Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts, you understand what performs and why
  • Proficiency with video editing tools such as CapCut, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, or equivalent
  • Strong visual storytelling instincts: you know how to build tension, land an emotional moment, and make a dancer look extraordinary on camera
  • Portfolio or social media handle showcasing relevant video work (required with application)
  • Background in or genuine appreciation of dance or the performing arts
  • Self-starter who can work independently, meet deadlines, and take creative initiative
  • Experience with photo and video editing tools required
  • Strong written communication skills for captions
