As a Data Engineering Intern, you will work to support clinical data management and development of complex electro-mechanical medical device systems within the Interventional Cardiology Coronary Therapies team. This role will utilize a variety of new and proven technologies to deliver life-changing medical devices to patients and clinicians in support of BSC’s mission.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Review, annotate, and prepare medical images to support machine learning & classical algorithm development.
  • Maintain the storage and organization of medical images, annotations, and associated information.
  • Develops and supports validation of tools for analyzing data sets and processing medical images through commercial & exploratory algorithms.
  • Write and run unit tests
  • Support code refactoring and testing code written by others
  • Collaborate closely with data scientists, cloud data engineers, algorithm engineers, clinical engineers, software engineers and systems engineers locally and globally
  • In all actions, lead with integrity and demonstrate a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance to all documented quality processes and procedures.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must graduate between December 2027 – Spring 2029
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate level degree majoring in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering
  • Must be able to commit to one of the following full internship program periods: May 17th – August 6th OR May 24th – August 13th
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from the Maple Grove or Arbor Lakes Minnesota Boston Scientific Corporate location

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse, cross-functional teams
  • Passion to learn new technologies and find new solutions
  • Previous internship or co-op experience
  • Desire to work in a medical device company where real products get manufactured
  • Experience with AWS and cloud technologies
  • Experience with machine learning development frameworks
  • Working knowledge of image processing
  • Manipulating tabular metadata using SQL and Python’s Pandas library
